Purpose

This space provides information, links and files that describes the Roles, Workflows, Permissions, and extensions to OLE or KFS Roles and Groups. 

We will continue to develop and modify the information as Kuali OLE continues to evolve.

Staff who enter or update financial information

Alumni

Graduate of an academic institution

Archivist

An archivist is a professional who assesses, collects, organizes, preserves, maintains control over, and provides access to information determined to have long-term value. The information maintained by an archivist can be any form of media (photographs, video or sound recordings, letters, documents, electronic records, etc.).--Wikipedia

Assessor/Evaluator/Statistics Manager

Staff who manage and utilize library-related statistics for management or reporting purposes

Auditor (external)

A certified professional who examines financial records for accounting/auditing/tax purposes

Campus Affiliate

An employee of an organization that has a formal or informal relationship with an academic institution due to shared goals or mission, e.g., research institutions, museums, for-profit corporations (especially "spin offs" from the academic institution), etc. Terms of library use may be the same as faculty, students or staff or may vary depending upon the specifics of the relationship.

Communications/Development

Staff who manage the library's "brand" to external audiences through communication tools and fund-raising efforts

Conserver

Professional who works on the conservation  of objects. Work involves determining the structural stability of an object, addressing problems of chemical and physical deterioration, and performing corrective treatment based on an evaluation of the aesthetic, historic, and scientific characteristics of the object--Wikipedia

Contract Negotiator

Staff who work with vendors to determine appropriate pricing for purchase or licensing of materials

Creator (author)

Content creators who seek to submit or manage their content in a library-managed system, such as repository.

Curator

Content specialist responsible for an institutional collection of tangible objects (e.g., artwork, collectibles, historic items, etc.) or intangible objects such as digital data

Data Creator

Staff who identify and record any type of metadata used for library functions

Data Harvester

Staff who operate programs to gather metadatain order to provide user access

Data Manager

Staff responsible for QA/QC of metadata for collections

Document Delivery

Staff involved in fulfillment of user requests for print or digital copies of library materials; see also Interlibrary Loan Specialist

Donor

An individual or organization making gifts of material, money or services to the library

Ed tech specialist

staff who work with content and users of the learning management system.

Electronic Resources specialist

Staff who oversee the lifecycle of electronic resources (e.g., management, access, troubleshooting, renewals).

Faculty member

A library user who teaches undergraduate or graduate courses and/or pursues research in a given field

Graduate student

A library user pursuing a master's, doctoral or professional degree

Interlibrary Loan Specialist

Staff involved in physical delivery of materials to external users; see also Document Delivery

Information Specialist

Instructor

An individual who is teaching.

Inventory Manager

Staff responsible for shelving of a library's physical items

Library Administrator

Staff responsible for setting policy and managing operations

Library Budget Manager

Library staff  responsible for overseeing fiscal operations for any administrative unit; see also Library Adminstrator, Unit Manager/Supervior

Library Instructor

Staff who develop and teach classes on research skills and strategies

Library Representative/Department Liaison

Faculty or graduate students who serve as liaisons from their academic department to the library.

Library User

Any library user (when differentiation is not required).

License Manager

Staff generally responsible for maintaining and tracking details related to the licensing of digital resources; see also Contract Negotiator and Data Creator.  see also Electronic Resources Specialist..  See also Electronic Resources specialist.

Metadata Specialist

Staff who assess metadata needs for a collection, and select/design the appropriate schema.  See also Data Creator

Orderer/Acquire-er

Staff engaged in procurement activities; see also Receiver

Patron Consultant

Staff handling direct interaction (personal or virtual) with users about  library-related policy or operational matters or the user's research needs

Programmer

A professional who develops and maintains computer code for local or vendor-supplied systems

Publisher

staff who make scholarship available through publication in a repository or other publishing platform.

Receiver

Staff processing new materials for the library's collections

Researcher

Any library user interested in using the library's collections for non-recreational purposes; see also Faculty, Graduate Student, Undergraduate

Researcher, unaffiliated

Any library user interested in using the library's collections for non-recreational purposes; see also Faculty, Graduate Student, Undergraduate who has no affiliation with the local institution.

Reserves/Course Manager

Staff responsible for identification and processing of library materials needed for courses taught during specific academic sessions

Scholarly Communications Officer

Staff who interact with users on issues related to scholarly communications (rights, publishing)

Scanning Technician

Staff who scan/digitize library or other materials.

Selector

Anyone choosing or requesting materials to be added to a library's collection

Shelf Prep

Staff responsible for labeling, stamping, binding, etc. physical items in a library's collection

System Administrator

Library technical staff who administer library software systems.

Undergraduate

A library user pursuing a bachelor's degree

Unit Manager / Supervisor

Staff responsible for specified operations or services

Vendor

An individual or organization providing services or materials to the library

Web/usability Specialist

Staff  responsible for creating,evaluating or maintaining the library's virtual presence; see also Programmer
